By creating this blog under a pseudonym, I am giving myself some freedom to express frustrations, gratitude, and sorrow with the personal challenges I face. I don’t need to have internet fame, I just want to create a community of sharing for caregivers. Caregiving is tough, and when you are dealing with multiple family members and their issues, it is easy to lose yourself. It’s also easy to lose your mind getting wrapped up in health care, social security, disability, and all the bureaucracy that goes along with it.
I have so many stories to tell, and some of them I hope will resonate enough for change to take place. This blog will not start at the beginning, the stories will come out as they are remembered. I have waited a long time to take care of myself, and now that the kids are grown, I have more time and patience for the elders in our life. A caregiving break without an urgent phone call is a rare instance and will happen when you least expect it.
I do not want to hurt those close to me, so I found a place to vent, and I know there are others out there who likely need to do the same. As I take this step to reach out to others who are in similar situations as myself, I hope we can all find that we have a safe space to share.
Please post thoughtfully and considerately. Harsh and critical words will not be tolerated. If you are in a very negative space, remember we are here to lift each other up.
Thank you,
Miriam Rose
